KENNEDY SPACE CENTER

On our second day of our Orlando trip we traveled out to Cape Canaveral for the day.  We were excited to see NASA and all that it had to offer.  We enjoyed seeing all of the rockets in the "rocket garden".  One of the first orders of business was to see a movie about how astronauts live in space and the training they go through to get there.

Here's a shot of our group getting ready to go into the "rocket garden".

My favorite exhibit was the space shuttle building.  It had the actual Atlantis Space Shuttle dissected so we could see inside of it.  It was fun to learn about the space shuttle program.....it's successes and it's sad failures.  It is mind boggling to me how man has figured out how to get humans into space.  the mathematics and physics just blow my mind.  I didn't understand it all but it sure was a joy to learn a little more about the men behind the ideas as well as the brave astronauts who put their lives at risk each time they travel into space.

The GIGANTIC building where the rockets and shuttles are put together before launching.

          Some artifacts from NASA.

A mock rocket booster and fuel tank in front of the shuttle building.

Rick in the tiny cockpit of one of the first manned rockets.

Me posing under a diamond ring!!  HAHA  not really, it's supposed to be a Christmas ornament:)

NASA did not disappoint!  It was a day of learning and awe as we learned of America's Space Program.

  1. What a lovely Diamond Ring "Frame" for you to get to stand in!!
It's nice that you got to go to the NASA center. Lots of years ago when we picked up Kamber from her mission in Houston, we went out to the NASA center which is now called "Space Center Houston", and took our whole family on a tour there on Thanksgiving Day. It truly WAS interesting.
