Night Easter Egg Hunt

The night before Easter we had our 3rd annual night time Easter egg hunt.  After it got dark Rick and Trent headed out to the back yard to hide a plethora of eggs.  Some were dyed, some were filled with candy, some had a number that corresponded to a prize and some had cold hard cash!!  The group was a little smaller than last year's but it was still a lot of fun!

Here are the finders with their treasures.....

Mark and Taryn

Dalton...(with his whoopee cushion prize:)

Fun Night! Fun Tradition!

Pink Zebra Shower

A little over a week ago we had a shower for Kaitlyn and her soon- to- be- here baby....
Havyn Skye.
I had no idea until Kaitlyn saw this sign and informed me that Haven was going to be spelled with a y  Havyn.  My bad.  You would think that I would have picked up on that  in the last 5 months since she chose her name:)  Anyway Kendra, Sarah and I had a fun time planning and thought that she would love a pink zebra theme.  The black and bright pink looked great!  It was held over Easter weekend and we didn't know if many people would show up because of family activities but we had a total of about 20 people and it was really fun.

Here are a few pictures.......

The dessert table

Mantle backdrop

Cake Pops that Kendra and I made as a treat to take home.
They took about three hours to make (not including cake baking time) because we had Rafe with us and everything takes longer with a toddler around:) But they turned out super delish!!

Pink zebra and pearls and chocolate cookies

Pink Lemonade Cupcakes!!

We served meatballs which I am sorry about.  Everyone seemed to like them but I did not.
Won't be doing those again.  Everyone loved the Hot Artichoke Dip served with bread.

A few of the guests....
The Bartley girls

DeeAnn, Jeffrey, Kendra, and Julie

Taryn an Emry

The mommy to be opening her presents.  She was so happy and grateful!

After eating we met together in the family room and played a couple of games.  Sarah put together a game where we had to guess what kind of food was in the baby jars.  We only could look at the unopened jars and she had a few flavors written down for us to choose from.  I did terrible but Cheri Bartley won with flying colors!!  (Maybe that's because she has a toddler and uses them often:)

Everyone was asked to write the mother-to-be a piece of advice and those were fun to read at gift opening time.  Kaitlyn was very happy with all of her fun baby clothes and gifts!  She is very excited for little Havyn to arrive.  We are almost a week away from her due date!  Anytime now!!

Oregon Coast

A few pics from this years Phelps sister's Oregon Trip.

Newport

Kathy, Jenni, and Karen enjoying the view!

I took this picture to send to Rick.  The ocean is so beautiful!

Here's a picture of all of us that went.....
Ruth, Darla, Me, Robin, Jenni Karen Kathy and DeeAnn

Lunch at Kylos.  Our table faced the beautiful Pacific Ocean:)

A few pictures of the beautiful house we stayed in.  Yes, that's Brad in the background.  He crashed our party.  He and Ruth took the long way home......driving!

My room mate was DeeAnn and this was our wonderful, comfortable bed!
Loved the duvet!!

I'm just sorry she had to put up with my snoring.

Or cute master bath.  That tub was sure handy after a chilly walk along the beach.
The color scheme was so calming.  I loved the color on the wall....a light blue.

Our comfy living area:)

This was a really enjoyable stay.  It was nice to sightsee, relax, read, watch movies, play games, and of course, eat yummy food.

The sister's trip is a great tradition!

John and Kaitlyn's Wedding

Kaitlyn was married to John Riding on March 21st in a small ceremony at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in the Wasatch Room on the 10th floor.  It was a wonderful occasion with close friends and family attending.  Kaitlyn chose purple and turquoise as her colors and we added the peacock theme which fit nicely.  Just a few days before the wedding we found out that Kaitlyn's bishop wouldn't be able to perform the ceremony because he was in the hospital so we were able to arrange for our Stake President, Steve Collings, to do it.  We were grateful that he was available and could get the job done:)  It was very nice!  After the ceremony we stepped out into the foyer overlooking the Wasatch Mountains and took turns congratulating the bride and groom.  After about 20 minutes we were allowed back into the room for the banquet.  We were served Cardamom Lime Chicken with Scalloped Potatoes and Vegetables.  The banquet room looked beautiful decorated in the purple and turquoise blue.  For dessert we were served either cheesecake or one of the wedding cakes.  I say one of the wedding cakes because I had accidentally ordered TWO cakes!  That was an expensive mistake on my part and there is a story to that but all's well that ends well:)  After the wedding party made a few comments the cake was cut and then followed the father daughter dance.  They danced to Rascal Flatts "My Wish".  Then the bride and groom danced to Shania Twain's "The One" (I think that's what it's called) and then Kaitlyn threw the bouquet. (Which her mother-in-law caught. Ha Ha!)  It was a nice time to be with loved ones on this special occasion.  Thanks to all those who came to support John and Kaitlyn on their special day!!

Luckily, it was a beautiful spring day and they were able to get some nice pictures.
Hailee Anderson, my niece, took the wedding photos.
