December 2020

It's been quite some time since I've blogged about life!  Here are some happenings from December.

On the 5th we had our annual adult Christmas night out.  We started with dinner at The Five Alls Restaurant where we enjoyed good conversation and good food!  Skylar splurged (on dad's dime) and got the crab legs.  They did look good!  Some of us had the chicken and others had the steak.  We all left positively stuffed!

After dinner we headed over to the Maverick Center to the Gentri and friends concert.
There were not a lot of concerts this year because of Covid so we were really happy that this one was still on and that we could attend.

We were socially distanced from others, and the arena seemed funny to not be full but the concert was sooo good, and we all enjoyed listening to the fun christmas music with the beautiful voices of the three tenors.  There were also some special guests, two of which I was excited to hear.  Matt and Savanah Shaw, a Covid Youtube father and daughter sensation.  They were really fun to listen to in person.

Since October we have been planning our annual Christmas date in town.  It was scheduled for the 10th and 11th.  Rick had reserved a suite at the Marriott overlooking the Gallivant Center for the special occasion.  Well, with Covid the Kurt Bestor Concert was cancelled and so we made the best of it.  First, we got some much needed Christmas shopping done and then we went over to La Caille French Restaurant for a fun dinner.  Last year at Christmas Rick bought me a gift card for La Caille, and we never used it so this was the night.  We shared a GIANT steak that was super delish and enjoyed our time in that romantic place. Everything was decorated so beautifully for Christmas.  After the dinner we walked around the grounds taking pictures and admiring all of the lights:)

We then headed downtown to see the temple.  Of course it is under construction so we had to see it from afar.  Oh, how we miss our beloved temple!

On the 12th we had the Superior Asphalt Christmas Party held at Marie Calendars.  It was nice in the fact that the back room that we were in offered privacy for our party of around twenty five people.  I think everyone enjoyed their dinner.  Mine came out very late, and everyone was pretty much done with their meal before I even started.  That wasn't fun but what can you do.  We only had one waiter for ALL twenty five of us and he really was working hard.  Anywhoo, another year, another Superior party.

On the 23rd Rick and I also attended another concert at the Maverick Center.  David Archuleta was in town and gave a really fun concert as well.  It surely was a fun night out!

Christmas Eve came the next day and I spent most all of it in the kitchen (or so it felt)
First I made a cake for Brad and Ruth's family Christmas party.  Actually I made the cake earlier but decorated on that day.  It was red velvet with almond frosting.  I think it turned out pretty good:)

That afternoon the kids showed up at 4:00.  We enjoyed a meal of tamales, chicken and dumplings,  artichoke dip, homemade salsa, and other stuff I can't remember.

After the cleanup we had a short nativity and some thoughts from grandpa.
Aren't the kids so cute in their costumes??

Next was delivering of Christmas boxes and then on to pajamas and gifts.

2020 Family Picture!!

Rick and I and our littles:)

Both Daisy and Chloe got little dolls and they were so cute with them!

Brady LOVED his horses!

After everyone left (around 8:30) rick and I were exhausted.  We got a few things set up for Christmas morning while Gary and Kaitlyn wrapped and set our Christmas for Haivyn and Merik.
Rick and I put on a Star Wars show (rogue one) and enjoyed some downtime before going to bed:)

The next morning we slept until past eight and I'm not gonna lie, it was splendid:)
We got up and had Christmas with Gary, Kaitlyn and the kids.  Everyone was happy with their gifts.  Gary got a new guitar and amplifier and coat.

Kaitlyn got gel pens, clothes, and perfume.

Haivyn got LOL dolls which were her favorite
and Merik got a spiderman costume.

After presents we visited with the Phelps Family to see what Santa brought and then came back for a nice breakfast.
After breakfast we headed over to the Bomans and enjoyed seeing their presents.

After an afternoon nap and a nice ham sandwich dinner we enjoyed another movie.
Little Women.  Such a cute show:)

The next day we got up and got our snowstuff ready and drove up to Silver Lake.  I bought some snowshoes for Rick and me for Christmas, and it was a great day to break them in.

Just as we arrived it started to snow.  While it was super cold it was also super beautiful!  My hands were freezing so Rick traded gloves with me and that helped so much.  We snowshoed around the lake and enjoyed the ambiance of the snow falling down on the frozen lake.  It was breathtaking!

As we finished up and drove back to town we decided to eat at Olive Garden.  We hadn't been there for a long time and just really enjoyed ending our fun day there.

The week between Christmas and New Year's Rick and I hatched a plan to go to Lava Hot Springs.  We ended up texting the Phelps Siblings to see if any would like to join us and they all said they could come!  Some could only come for one day but both nights were fun as we played games and ate out at the restaurants in town.  We enjoyed some time with DeeAnn and Darrell in the hot pools, and boy did they feel good!  And boy were they BUSY!  I can't believe how many people fit in that small town!

Anyhow, we had a wonderful December filled with friends and family, even though it is still in the thick of Covid season.  Fortunately Rick and I have stayed well, UNFORTUNATELY after our Lava outing both Trent and Kathy and DeeAnn and Darrell came down with the sickness.  It was really hard on them even putting Darrell in the hospital with pneumonia.  He is still there but is recovering.

All in all the Christmas season was wonderful.  To help lift my spirits I started decorating for Christmas way before I usually do.  I had two trees up even before thanksgiving.  I was so ready to have the spirit of Christmas fill my life after such a year of turmoil and uncertainty.

I am ready to put 2020 behind me and move on to another year.  I hope this one sees better days.
