Phelps Family Reunion

Rick and I had our family reunion the second week of August.  We had it at Downata Hot springs this year.  We, plus Skylar and Sarah, plus Brach and Kendra each pulled a trailer to stay in.  Skylar borrowed Sarah's uncle's trailer while Brach rented one from a trailer company.  We were all very nicely situated.  The kids had fun sleeping on the bunk beds!
Kaitlyn (and Gary) could not make it this year so Rick and I picked up Haivyn for her to come along.  She stayed with us in our trailer.

We arrived on Thursday evening and got set up.  Skylar and Sarah were just a few minutes behind us.  After getting the RV"s set up we got started on some dinner.  We were behind schedule and EVERYONE was hungry.  We made hamburgers and hot dogs on Rick's new portable grill that he got for Father's Day.  It was it's maiden voyage!  It worked great!  We had chips and salad to go with it.  Brach and Kendra arrived just as we got started.

After dinner we had a get together to celebrate Skylar's birthday from just a few days earlier.  Sarah made him his requested carrot cake.  We sang Happy Birthday to him and had some cake.  Then we gathered around the campfire.  Some of us shared some family history stories.  That was really nice. We then had a few campfire songs and s'mores to finish off.  Everyone headed to bed at that point to get ready for the coming day.

The next morning started out with a fabulous breakfast from Skylar and Sarah.  They made breakfast burritos with fruit.  It was all very tasty!
Next on the agenda was a kids craft organized by Sarah and Kendra.  They had the kids make fun designs out of craft sticks, paint, gems and stickers.  It was a bit of a messy project but they had fun.

While the kids had their project we were over at the next table playing a game of Settlers.

                                                  Skylar won!😏

After the craft we all got sunscreen up and ready for the hot pools!
We took the shade which really helped us to have a cooler spot to hang out.  I think we all had a wonderful time with the pools, slides, and splash pad.  I thought it was perfect for all of the littles.  It was fun because even Rafe and Henry were big enough to go on the slides!  Scout and Haivyn were both tall enough but not courageous enough.  Maybe next time! 😄

Here's some pictures of everyone....

After swimming we had a wonderful dinner hosted by Brach and Kendra.
They made pasta and there was plenty of food!  Brach had stopped in Malad and picked up some fresh corn.  It was sooo good!

While dinner was being made the kids worked on our family puzzle.  With a little help from Skylar and Kendra they were able to get it finished!

After dinner we had a few little family games.  A fun sack race and a treasure hunt for the little ones.  They liked digging for treats, coins, and prizes.

Next was the family program.  Grandpa Rick was the emcee and had some funny jokes to tell.  The Phelps family did a cute dance to Spongebob Squarepants.  They had cute shirts too.  Grandma recited the poem "Who Loved Best?"  and talked to the kids about helping their mamas.  Lastly, the grandkids did little skit about an invisible bench.  Even little Brady and Daisy joined in!  It was really cute!

The last thing we did for the night was an outdoor movie.  The family decided on watching "Aladdin".  I brought out the popcorn and treats and we enjoyed the show.  Only a few of us lasted until the end.  One by one everyone kind of peeled off while kids fell asleep.  Then it was bedtime after a long day!

The next morning we got up to a continental breakfast of cereals and doughnuts and milk and juice.  The Phelps's headed out fairly early while the Bomans wanted to do a little more swimming.  I decided that I would just get things packed up and ready to go.  While doing so we got a surprise visit from Travis and Heather Gregerson who were there with their two boys.  It was nice visiting with them!

The Bomans came back and got packed up and we left about the same time.

Overall, it was a great reunion!  Downata was a great place to have it.  The kids had a lot of area to run around and explore and we all felt safe.  We may be back another year!

Henry turns SIX!

Ou Henry boy turned SIX!  A party was held for him on a Sunday evening with both grandmas and grandpas and lots of aunts and uncles.  Henry is growing up so big and helpful and happy.  He got a lot of presents, as you can see!  He got a lego movie, new school clothes, a remote control car, a new video game and a new lego set!  He was super happy to be the one celebrated!

His mama made him a delicious chocolate cake with lego men on top!

We love you, Henry!!

SUMMER HAPPENINGS

Just a few random pictures of things that we did in July.

While Skylar and Sarah were off to Ben's wedding we had the kids for the morning.  We took them to the days of '47 Parade and then had a yummy breakfast at Little America.  The kids enjoyed the parade for couple of hours and then got a little bored so we headed off to breakfast.

I always love the floats and especially the bagpipe band:)

Brady got new glasses to correct his lazy eye.  He looks super cute in them!

Coco still loves the suckers in the pantry!

We hit the Nickelcade for Sarah's birthday date.  We just got these two pictures of Rick and I playing games but none of the birthday girl.  We had fun playing Pinball, Pacman, Air Hockey and others.  After the arcade we went to dinner at a new restaurant called From Scratch.  It was good food and good company!  Again no pictures:(

Daisy in her Daisy outfit and little Eric looking as cute as ever.

For Sarah's birthday we offered to watch the kids while they had a getaway date.  We got to take the kids to the Deseret Peak Pool and had a really fun time there.  Charles and Henry loved going down the slide and practicing their swimming.  They also loved looking around under the water with their goggles!  I love the pool and have so much fun when we go!

For Kendra's birthday we also watched her kids while her she and Brach went on an overnighter date as well.  I wanted to take the kids to the Deseret Peak Pool just like I did with the Phelps kids but that weekend the Country Fanfest was happening so the pool was only open for those going to Fanfest.
Our second option was to go to the Pratt pool (indoor) in Tooele.  I was supposed to meet Rick there to help with all of the kids but he was running behind so super grandma did it ALL ON HER OWN!
We stayed in the kiddie area for the most part.  Chloe fell asleep for a bit and while Rafe sat with her I was able to take Scout and Brady through the lazy river a couple of times.  They kept wanting to go over and over.  We had a good time!  Rick met us just as we were leaving the pool and then we headed over to Jim's Restaurant for dinner.  Before the night ended we took a ranger ride over to the sunshine shack for a shaved ice.  The kids were happy to have a fun treat!  After the kids' night baths we settled down by watching a movie.  Whew!  It was a busy night!

The next morning we got the kids up early to get to the Downtown Farmer's Market.  We tried lots of samples from popcorn to peaches to salsa.  I bought peaches and they were SOOO good!  I took them to Vegas and shared them with grandma and grandpa Hafen throughout the whole next week.

We got to get up close and personal with a couple of birds.  The owl was really cool.  The African Raven would take the dollar donations in his beak and put them in a box.  The kids loved that!

We picked up some lo mean noodles for a late morning snack.

Then we ran into Skylar and Sarah.  They went to the Market too!
Here are the kids getting a fun pin.

Meanwhile, while we were taking care of the kids, Brach and Kendra were living it up for her birthday.  They had a Mexican (big surprise there) dinner and some CHIP cookies for dessert.

Anyway, some fun times in the month of July!  Bring on August activities!!
