For Christmas Rick bought me (us) tickets to the Seattle Mariners game. We left on a Thursday early morning flight and arrived in Seattle by 8am. After gathering our luggage we picked up our car and headed North. We had never ben to Vancouver, Canada so we thought this would be a good day to do some sightseeing and get to the Vancouver Temple. Our temple appointment wasn't until the evening so I looked up some cool stuff to do in the area and made a plan.
It was a three hour drive to get into Vancouver from Seattle. We stopped in Everett City outside of Seattle for a fun breakfast. We were tempted to get the advertised cinnamon roll but I knew we were gonna be getting some treats from the Farmer's Market later so we restrained.
After crossing the border we got into Vancouver and drove right to the Capilano Suspension Bridge.
the bridge is 170 meters long and sits 70 meters over the water. We were discouraged to see the admission price was over $50 per person. We really only wanted to go on the bridge (because I was worried about my knee and doing too much walking) As it turned out it worked out well. After going across the bridge I told Rick that he should just go on the nature walk without me. He did and I crossed back slowly (it was really wobbly with the amount of people on it.) and just sat and people watched while I waited for him.
After he got back we did something called the cliff walk. It was a trail along the cliffside overlooking the river. It was really beautiful and although there were a number of stairs, I did well.
Everything was really beautiful!
After stopping at the gift shop (Rick bought a hat....big surprise there, haha!) we got back in the car and headed into the downtown area. We drove onto Granville Island where the Farmer's Market is. We were so excited to eat some market food and there was a plethera of places, I decided on a hamburger and fries. I cannot tell you the last time I had a burger and fries and it was soooo good! Rick chose some asian food and we both enjoyed our meals. We went outside to get some pictures of the harbor. It was a beautiful afternoon and there was an entertainer playing the guitar and singing. It was really nice.
We decided to go get dessert back in the building because we had seen a couple of nice bakeries.
I chose three desserts while Rick chose one. I wanted to have some for the next day.😉
After our Vancouver Harbor and Market experience we drove to the temple.
We had scheduled a temple endowment but knew that we would be tired from such a long day so we decided to change to initiatory work. I got to do five names where Rick was only able to do two.
We met up in the Celestial Room and enjoyed the beauty there.
After the temple we found our hotel an got a good night's rest.
The next morning we were not in too big of a hurry so Rick went to the gym and I did my PT there in the room. We got left soon after and made the drive back to Seattle. We got checked into our hotel and took a little nap before the big game. We got to Oracle Stadium a few hours early and were surprised to see people standing in line to get in already. We went to have dinner at a place called Jimmy's on first.
Cute, huh? It was inside a hotel on First Street. We had a great meal! Rick ordered some street corn as an appetizer and some fish and sweet potato chips. I had a french dip. Good stuff!
As we walked to the stadium after dinner we passed the vendors selling hot dogs. Rick said, "Man, I haul have waited and just got a hot dog!" Haha! A full meal didn't stop him...he did get one a few hours later.
First we stopped at the Mariners team store to get some merch. Holy Cow! There was a line just to get into the store! When we got in it was wall to wall people! We perused a little and I ended up just getting a t-shirt and a hat. Rick got a nice Nike polo and a new hat. I love the team colors!
We were READY!
Rick had purchased some really great seats right behind the Mariners dugout. We had a SUPER good time just watching the game and eating fun game foods. Rick got his hotdog after the seventh inning stretch! What a fun night!
The next morning we found a bagel place close to where we stayed.
We then drove over to Pike's Market and enjoyed looking around. I am always so tempted to buy the fresh flowers there. They are so beautiful! I knew I was only going to be home for a day when we returned so I decided not to get them. We found some food, of course, and enjoyed eating a pastry and then Rick had to get the mini donuts. It's all about the food for us! HAHA!
Anyway, we caught a late night flight home and left with great memories of our short trip to Vancouver, Canada and Seattle, Wahington!
