Just after our family reunion after arriving home on Friday we got up early to drive to Logan for Brach's Grandma, Marie Bartlett's funeral. She passed away just the week before. Brach's grandpa passed away just a few months prior in early February ( I think) and so it was nice that Marie did not have to be separated from him too long. It was a beautiful funeral and celebrated her well life lived.
This was the hearse. An old Cadillac. Kinda cool!
After the funeral we drove over to Nibley to visit with Xavier. His mom, Tara and he are moving in with Tara's mom Tonya. They have a nice house to live in and Xavier has room to run and play. They will be living in the basement of the home. Xavi has already made a few friends. He was excited to show us his new playground set that they had just set up:)
While we were there, Tonya mentioned that Mardee Clayton, who is now in her ward, just had knee surgery. Rick and I stopped to say hello and ended up visiting for an hour catching up on all the family news. Mardee is doing well after her surgery.
On our way home we got a call from Darla reminding us that we had reserved a condo with them for the next night. We had completely forgotten about it. Monday was the Soldier Hollow Classic up in Midway and we had previously talked to Darla about renting a place close by so we wouldn't have to get up too early. It was a pretty basic but new condo right close to Jordanelle Reservoir. After our Sunday church meetings we drove up to Park City and met them there. I brought some chicken noodle soup (and homemade banana bread) with us and had a nice dinner. We then played games until ten that night. Scrabble took a LOOONG time to get through and by the time it ended we were all ready to snooze.
We got up early to catch the beginning of the sheep dog show that started promptly at 8 am. It is so amazing to watch the handlers and dogs round up the sheep. We got to see four or five that actually got the sheep separated and penned. Truly, so cool!
Here we are! Soldier Hollow was beautiful...and HOT!
We left by 1pm to get back down to the valley and have lunch with Gary. Cracker Barrel was the restaurant of choice, and after a nice meal, Rick dropped me off at the airport to fly to Vegas. I hated to leave him.😔 It was a really nice weekend.
PS We did spend some time at the cemetery putting out plants and getting them watered. The cemetery was beautiful for Memorial Day, as always !
