4th of July

Our Phelps Family Reunion 4th of July celebration was a complete success!  We had a total of 140 people throughout the two days of the reunion.  We had a myriad of events scheduled for the two days.

We started out the reunion on Friday the 2nd with a haystack dinner provided by both Allen families.  After dinner we had each of the kids under twelve bring over their bikes and scooters for decorating.  The kids had a fun time festivizing (is that a word?) their own bike.  Ultimate dodge ball was also a hit during the evening with a lot of the younger crowd.  We ended the evening with a fun outdoor movie.  We took a vote between Emporor's New Groove or Megamind.  Megamind won out and we had a good time laughing at the silliness of that show.  Brad and Ruth provided nachos, popcorn and treats for the show.  It ended around 11 PM.  We were all glad to get into bed that night.

The next day started early with a kids mile fun run with Jack, Sam, and Tom Harrington coming in at 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.  Next was the 5K.  I rode my electric scooter along with Rick while he ran.  I don't know if that was a help or a hinderance.😏  Peter came in with 1st place while Russ came in 2nd and  Sarah came in 3rd.  I thought it was neat that little Hallie ran all the way with her mom.

After a continental breakfast put on by Trent and Kath's family there was a flag raising ceremony (which I'm sad to say I missed), then we had the bike parade.  The kids were so cute riding by throwing candy to everyone while on their cute decorated bikes!  After the bike parade Rick and I took the Phelps kids (and Sophie and Britta) on a Ranger ride over to the Grantsville parade.  The kids had a fun time collecting candy and seeing the floats drive by.

Rick and I (and Hal and Janis) were in charge of the lunch that afternoon so we hurried back from the parade to get set up.  Janis got all of the green salads prepared while we set out the THIRTY pizzas we had ordered from United Slice.  The pizzas were a hit with everyone and sure made our part easy.  We had a few pizzas left over but the missionaries came and finished them off for us:)  We served popsicles and ice cream for dessert.

Next was the Carnival and Cornhole tournament.  The kids played at the different booths and played on the water slides (thanks to Ben and Kara) while the adults visited and watched others play cornhole.  It was a super hot afternoon so after a couple of hours Rick and I both went to the house for a quick nap.  (Quick nap meaning a whole hour :)  Then I prepared my salad for the steak fry/ potluck and we went back out for dinner.  It was nice mingling with so many family members throughout the whole reunion.  After a massive clean up effort we headed over to Brach and Kendra's for the Grantsville fireworks show!  It is always a good show.  We had Haivyn with us and she got super scared and ended up inside the house downstairs playing with dolls.

Anyhoo,  it was a great weekend celebration with family and celebrating FREEDOM!!  These are pictures from the weekend in random order.....
