Las Vegas and St. George

A couple of weeks ago (March 10th-15th) Rick and I made a trip to Las Vegas to see my parents.  I was scheduled to fly out that day on my own but with the Corona Virus making a showing in the US I decided to skip the flight and drive.  Rick came home early that day and announced that he was coming with me.  I didn't mind at all:)

We drove as far as St. George that night arriving about 9:30.  We stayed at La Quinta and then got up the next morning for LV.  We enjoyed time wth my mom and dad all day Wednesday and most of Thursday.

Dad and Mom are getting older in years.  Mom is 81 and dad will be 81 in May.  I am trying to get down to Vegas every 4-6 weeks to spend time with them.  Not sure how much longer I'll have with them.  Wednesday we visited for a few hours and invited them to go out and have dinner.  They preferred staying in so Rick and I stopped at a Mexican place down the road and then stopped at Baskin Robbins to pick up their favorite treat.

Dad--Mocha Almond Fudge and Mom--Rocky Road

Rick and I stopped at a Walmart grocery to get a rotisserie chicken and fruit.
We enjoyed dinner with them around the bar:)

The next day Mr. Chimney Sweep came to clear out the fireplace flu.  Mom and dad use that fireplace ALL. OF. THE. TIME.

They like to keep the temperature no lower than 80 degrees!  I bring clothes for winter but always regret that I didn't bring short sleeves!

Later that afternoon I convinced mom to go out to get a pedicure.  She really enjoyed it and her toes turned out so pretty.  On the way home she kept looking at her feet and giggling.  She loved the pink on her toes!  Rick and I left later in the afternoon and headed back to St. George.

On the way to St. George we got an email that church was to be cancelled for two weeks because of the corona virus.  We got big smiles on our faces and said, "Let's stay in St. George for the WHOLE weekend!"  And we did!

Friday was very wet so we decided to travel up to Cedar City to get to the temple.  We were thinking that maybe the temples in Utah would start to shut down because of the virus.  It seemed like we were heading in that direction.  So glad we did because just a few days later the temples DID shut down (except for living ordinances)

We drove to Cedar in a snowstorm but enjoyed the warmth the temple endowment always brings.

Back in St. George we started getting ideas for what we wanted to do for our family reunion that is scheduled for the end of next month.

One of the things we want to do is hike in Snow Canyon with the family.

The next morning we headed to Snow Canyon to see which hikes would be best with little children.
We had heard that the volcanic tubes would be fun and we thought so too but on closer inspection found that it would be too dangerous for our littles.  We enjoyed getting down into one of them though.

Then we found the petrified sand dunes and thought that would be really fun for the kiddos.

We also found a small hike to the "Pioneer Names".
That would be great for the kids as well.

We randomly stopped at one last place.  It is called Jenny's Canyon.  It is a short ten minute hike to a slot canyon.  We were so excited to find it.  The kids are gonna love this slot!

Anyway, we enjoyed our time in St. George.  Now that we are all under quarantine and have to stay in our homes I like remembering the fun we had on our trip.  Here's hoping that the Corona Virus (Covid 19) will be deterred enough that we will be able to have our reunion next month.

We're not sure how long all of this is gonna last.
