The Sunday before Valentines Day we invited the family over for a special dinner. We started out with an adult Family Night talking about our Come Follow Me lesson for the week. It was based on John 2-4 and we spoke of the water being turned to wine and Nicodemus' talk with Jesus about being born again. We had a nice conversation about how Jesus allows us to change through the process of repentance. It was a good conversation.
After our meeting the adults went to pick up their children while Rick and I put the finishing touches on our dinner. Gary came and brought his girlfriend, Eva and her sister Bruna. They were very nice but I think they felt a little awkward. Bruna does not speak English but the guys spoke some Spanish to her which she could understand a little of.
We had set the table with a valentines theme (Red and White) and made sure everyone had a Valentines treat. See's chocolates and decorated sugar cookies were there for the taking. For our meal Rick made his delicious Traeger BBQ ribs. It was the star of the show. He also made Parmesan Halibut which was a hit. Sarah brought twice baked potatoes, Kendra brought a poppyseed salad and we also had broccoli and asparagus. I had made a red velvet cookie cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting. It sure looked pretty and I think tasted pretty good. We also had dipped some strawberries the night before and the kids LOVED those! We had a wonderful night together eating and visiting.
Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures of the night. By the end of the night we were exhausted from the all of the fun. After everyone left Rick and I worked together to get everything back in order.
Tuesday was Valentines Day.
Rick and I had a very nice Valentines Date this year. We started out at a new restaurant called The Capital Grill. We weren't quite sure what to expect but the place looked nice online. It is located downtown on 1st East close to Main Street. As we walked in we found out that it was quite nice! Rick started out with a wedge salad...extra dressing and bleu cheese, of course,😉
We both ordered the seared filet with lobster tail with cheesy cauliflower and asparagus as sides. Oh my goodness! The food was absolutely divine and enjoyed every single bite! The steak was so tender and the lobster...YUM! They were served with a delicious butter sauce that took the meat to a higher level! We definitely took the leftovers home because there was ample. After dinner we declined dessert but they brought us two very delicious chocolate covered strawberries that completed our dining experience! We very much loved our experience and will for sure be back again!
