April Events

Here are some random going ons for the latter month of April.  Rafe started little league baseball this month.  I think he is in something called the "Farmer's League" but it's all little league to me!
Brach is his coach and don't they just look dandy in their shirts and hats!!

How about that "Superior" name on the back:)

My cute little slugger!

On the 19th of the month Rick and I took a long weekend to St. George.  With the sale of our St. George home last month Rick agreed to let me rent a condo in Dixie at least three times a year.  I love it there and whereas it is close to my parents home in Las Vegas we're gonna make it happen!

We really enjoyed our time there.  We stayed in Las Palmas over in Green Valley and while the condo was very suitable for us it was hard to get used to not being in our own home.  I really do miss it:(

We did enjoy our time in the Dixie area.  We got to eat out at our favorite spots and drive around town with the top down on the convertible..  The first day was actually cold but warmed up as the weekend went on.  I was soooo ready for warm weather!  We spent some time in the pool, watched a couple of Jazz games, and of course some of the food channel;)

Something that we have never done before is rent bikes and ride around the area.  St. George is chalk full of biking trails and so we rented a couple of bikes and had a blast!  We rode two different trails within a couple of hours.  (The Santa Clara River Trail and The Virgin River Trail)  The bike seat was smaller than the one I am used to on my own bike so my rear end got really sore after just a few hours.  We stopped at Bloomington Park for a short respite and then stopped at Black Bear Diner for lunch.  On our way to drop the bikes off we stopped at the Temple and walked through the Visitors Center which we had never been to.  Biking in St. George...highly recommendable!
(Not in the heat of the summer though!  That would be awful!)

On Sunday of our getaway weekend we drove to Vegas to spend some time with my mom and dad and go to their ward's block.  After church we had a lunch of turkey sandwiches and salad and got to have  a nice visit with them.  The big news in their life is that Holly, their beloved dog has a tumor in her bladder.  They have both been feeling quite sad at the thought of losing her.  She has been with them for twelve years now.  She is still alive but it is unknown how much longer she will live:(  We love little Holly so much!  She has brought our family much joy on our visits to grandma's and grandpa's place!

How silly!  I didn't get a picture of my parents but I sure got a couple of Holly!

Last week Henry took a tumble down the back stairs going into the basement!  He got pretty scratched up on his face and arm and leg but he healed up pretty well for his......

....Uncle Matt's wedding!  He and Charlie looked so cute in their bowties and suspenders!
(Sorry, no picture of Charlie.)

We celebrated Gary's birthday a few days after his actual birthday.  He requested a lunch at Braza Grill with dear old mom and dad:)  Our little Gary turned twenty five this year!

Also, this month we have been enjoying watching the Jazz play.  This is one of the playoff games against the OKC Thunder.  It was intense but we came out with the win!  I for sure had earplugs because these games get CRAZY loud!

Smores in the backyard fire pit!!

We also got the chance to meet a new friend.  This is Cheryl Neuville.  She will be marrying our dear friend Isaac who is the Branch President in Mbale.  She is an American from Boston who met Isaac on a humanitarian project in Uganda last spring.  We love her already and think she is a great match for Isaac!

Haivyn and Merik spending some time with grandma!!

Lots of happenings here in Grantsville!!

  1. I'm so pleased, Janell, that you take time to do this blogging. It's really fun to read back through all these things you've done, and you're going to be so very glad to have this record of your experiences. I am way behind on reading what you've written, but I sure am happy that you write and add these pictures like this. Your St. George trip sounded really fun! (too bad to lose little Holly!)
